From securing teacher pay raises to expanding school choice and workforce training, my goal is to ensure every student – from Wilson Hall to Sumter High to Central Carolina Technical College – has the tools to succeed. I’ll continue to fight for higher education and technical schools that prepare our citizens for careers tied to our growing economy and to Shaw Air Force Base, while keeping parents in the driver’s seat of their children’s education.
A strong Sumter also depends on safe roads, thriving businesses, and a vibrant local economy. That’s why I’ve championed investments in infrastructure, like the Miller to Morgan Avenue stormwater project, to reduce flooding, repair roads, and support our military community at Shaw. By cutting red tape, lowering taxes, and directing resources to Sumter’s most pressing needs, we’ve attracted industries like Continental Tire and eVAC Magnetics, supported small businesses, and created new job opportunities. I’ll keep working to ease the burden of inflation with responsible budgeting and pro-business policies that grow our economy, empower farmers, and keep more money in taxpayers’ pockets.
Sumter’s future also rests on protecting what makes our community unique: our military families, our natural resources, and our values. Shaw Air Force Base generates a $2.4 billion economic impact and supports nearly 17,000 jobs, with veterans making up more than 13% of our county—the highest in the state. I will always defend Shaw’s mission, stand with our veterans, and support policies that strengthen our military families. At the same time, I’ll continue to safeguard our Second Amendment rights, uphold the sanctity of life, and ensure moms and families have the resources they need to thrive. Whether it’s defending our hunters and outdoorsmen, protecting farmland, or getting tougher on crime—especially juvenile crime—I’ll always fight for a safer, stronger Sumter that leads the way for South Carolina.
